*EPIC
EPIC is the word that comes to mind when you hear the story of “crossing the Red Sea”. The whole chapter of Exodus 14 is devoted to the incredible miracle of saving the Israelite people from the greatest world power in their day. A modern comparison would have to be the American Revolution, except that both sides of the revolution had guns. God’s people were completely unarmed and unable to defend themselves from such a nation as Egypt. This EPIC tale of God’s deliverance consists of an EPIC trap, an EPIC failure, and an EPIC victory.
So what can we ‘Take Heed’ to in this story? As I was reading this story the first thing that came to mind was the word ‘Foolishness”. You won’t find the word spelled out in this story but you will find it illustrated by Israel and the Egyptians. The difference was the outcome of the foolishness of the Egyptians. Their foolishness was not in any military tactic but in their unbelief. The Bible says in I Cor 1 that the foolish and weak things of the earth are used to confound and destroy the wise. TAKE HEED that you do not make your decisions based on anything but God’s way, even when it seems really foolish.
